Over the last 10 years now, Telefónica, through its Foundation, has enrolled over 163,000 child workers at school in 13 Latin American countries, through its Proniño programme.
Proniño is a programme with considerable social impact aimed at contributing to the eradication of child labour. With Proniño, Telefónica gets working children back into school, supports those who are at risk of giving up their studies, backs the schools these children attend, promotes improvements in teaching and contributes to creating knowledge and undertaking research to gauge the true dimension of this problem; all of this to ensure quality education for children who have been or are at risk of dropping out.
Telefónica and 1Goal have shared goals: they both work to provide access to education for more and more children. That is why we support 1Goal.
1GOAL: Education for All is a new campaign aimed at giving all the world's children the opportunity of attending school.
FIFA and some of the most important figures in football have given their support to the 1GOAL campaign, to ensure that this year's world cup leaves behind an extraordinary legacy: education for everyone. To achieve this, 1GOAL, which has the backing of over 100 organisations in more than 100 countries, will press governments around the world to invest a further 16 thousand million dollars a year, which is the amount it is estimated is needed to make universal education a reality.
